Getting a little restless with the children out of school?
University of Reno's Summer Engineering Camp starts Tuesday at the Children's Museum.
For the young actor in the house, the Brewery Arts Center offers Performing Arts Camp.
The Carson City Recreation Department has five more weeks of Kids Kamps. Week 6 runs July 19-23 with programs for all ages. There are also drop-in days for older children.
Kayaking classes through Douglas County Cooperative Extension are at Sand Harbor. A one-hour clinic teaches basic skills.
For adults, the Carson Recreation Department has signups for adult volleyball through Friday. Joel Dunn organizes the youth and adult programs.
For active seniors, the Recreation Department has the free Shape in the Muscle Resistance Training Program with instructor Flossy Nelson.
The Aquatic Center has designated Wednesday and Friday for family swim night.
Tuesday, the Washoe County Department of Parks and Recreation features cowboy poetry and videos of life at Reno's Bartley Ranch. Admission is free.
William Barth, president and CEO of the Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation, gave me some information about sunscreen, its effectiveness and what "waterproof" really means.
This is one of the few cancers that we can help prevent by teaching our youth early about sunscreen. One in every five children will grow up to develop skin cancer, and 1 million cases are diagnosed every year.
An informative Web site for children, "Molly the Mole," has an educational coloring book. This program is free to schools.
