BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF:

Gary Olson of the Bishop Creek Resorts (760-873-4484) reported:

Intake No. 2: Slowed down a bit this week but still is doing pretty good.

Power Bait and nightcrawlers seem best.

North Lake: Is spectacular right now with Salmon eggs or Lemon Twist Power Bait.

The road is a little rough.

South Lake: The fishing is still fantastic.

Anglers are reporting 20-30 fish days with Stingers being the best bait.

Trolling with olive Matuka flies or just a nightcrawler over by the rock slide was great this week.

Weir Pond: No report.

Bishop Creek: A 4-pound, 4-ounce Rainbow on Power Bait.

Anglers are reporting good fishing with Salmon eggs working best and nightcrawlers a close second.

Roostertail and small Kastmaster lures are great.

Black Ant or green-bodied Mosquito flies are best.

BISHOP CREEK AREA, CALIF:

Sabrina Lake: Carolyn Webb of the Lake Sabrina Boat Landing (760-873-7425): Well, it's finally happened Ð the fishing has slowed down, but just a bit. There still seems to be a lot of fish coming out, but anglers are having to display a bit more patience and are working a bit harder for a stringer.

The inlet, at last, gave up a few larger fish this past week.

The ticket at the inlet was worms, Power Bait and jigs.

Trolling worms, Woolly Bugger flies and Super Duper lures produced a number of limits.

Mosquitoes are your best bet for fly fishing in the mornings and evenings.

The lake is stocked on a regular basis by DF&G.

Once again, the DF&G stocked on Friday, July 9th, with pan-size rainbows along with 25 trophy-size trout.

And the wait continues for a stocking permit from the DFG to be able to stock from a private hatchery Ð Alper's Ranch.

REMEMBER THE REPELLENT: The skeeters are still here at least till the end of July.

BLUE LAKES, CALIF. AREA:

Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) said that were reports of good fishing at both Upper and Lower Blue. Nothing big but good action. Go prepared with plenty of repellent for mosquitoes.

BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Jim Reid of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760-932-7707) said, "The fishing is still excellent for the boaters. Most of them are stillfishing with nightcrawlers or Power Bait. A few are anchoring and throwing small lures like Panther/Martin.

The fish are coming up to the surface for the midges and they are bumping the surface until about noon, each day.

The successful spincasters have been catching their fish in the top 1-2 feet of water.

The fish are a little smaller than last week but there is an occasional 4-5 pounder.

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported that the fishing was doing well over the weekend, despite the "Death Ride."

EAST CARSON RIVER AREA, CALIF: Todd Sodaro at the Carson River Resort (877-694-2229) reported the water is clear, the weather is hot, all of their cabins are booked solid, and the fishing is "On Fire" with everyone catching fish.

Some of the larger fish of the week were:

Kevin Smith caught a 4-pound, 4-ounce rainbow on his birthday (07/11) on a brand new fishing rod.

Kay Aisaman caught a 4.5 pound rainbow on nightcrawlers plus a coupe of 12 inchers.

Ty Bryson nailed a 4-pound, 1-ounce rainbow on salmon eggs.

WEST CARSON RIVER AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby reported:

There was a fish plant on Friday and the "Death Ride on Saturday.

Terrance and Barron Santiago of Carson City caught a 4-pounder and a 5-pounder on Saturday on Panther/Martin lures.

Mark Franzi of Markleeville caught a limit with one 3-pounder on small Mepps lures.

CATNIP RESERVOIR IN NORTHERN WASHOE COUNTY: Will open Sept. 1.

CONVICT LAKE, CALIF: Susie Greilich at Kittridge Sporting Goods Store in Mammoth at (760) 934-7566 said to use Thomas Buoyant lures or nightcrawlers.

CROWLEY LAKE, CALIF: Susie Greilich said there is a lot of algae. You need to find clear water to fish for trout and perch. Nightcrawlers are best.

DAVIS LAKE, CALIF: Sara at the Grizzly Store and Resort (530-832-0270): The shore fishing has been spectacular since the Fourth of July at Mallard Cove.

There are some major-sized fish coming out of there. The fishermen are averaging about 4 fish and the rainbows are running up to 3 pounds. The best action is on Power Bait or worms.

Trolling is fair to slow, but better in the p.m. Best action is in main channel from boat ramp to island. Troll 15-25 feet deep with Needlefish lures.

FEATHER RIVER AT OROVILLE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported that his clients are catching limits and near limits of chrome king salmon, 12-25 lbs., with an occasional 30 pounder.

Back-trolling with Flatfish lures, green & gold, T-50's.

Starting to catch a few on roe.

Fishing between Oroville and Gridley.

FRENCHMAN RESERVOIR, CALIF: Wiggin's Trading Post at Chilcoot, Calif. (530-993-4683): A lot of fishermen are trolling near shore.

Some limits have been taken on flashers and nightcrawlers. Use lead core line to go deep.

Bank fishing has slowed up.

HEENAN LAKE, CALIF: Will open Sept. 3.

JUNE LAKE LOOP AREA, CALIF: Susie Greilich said

Grant Lake: Troll Rapala lures at the outlet. Use Power Bait from shore.

Gull Lake: Power Bait is catching limits.

June Lake: Troll 5 colors of lead core line with Needlefish lures. Best bait is nightcrawlers.

Silver Lake: Use Salmon eggs or olive Matuka flies.

Rush Creek: Use garden worms.

KINNEY RESERVOIR AREA, CALIF: An angler reported hiking into Upper and Lower Kinney Lakes and catching limits of Brookies on both Saturday and Sunday on worms.

KIRMAN (CARMEN) LAKE: Jim Reid that fishing remains the same: Marginal. The best fishing in that area is currently at Poore Lake with small spinners or streamer flies.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750) no report.

Don Hettrick and Don Quilici of Carson City trolled in "The Narrows" for six hours last Friday and got "skunked."

MAMMOTH LAKES AREA, CALIF: Susie Greilich said:

George Lake: Use Kastmaster lures or inflated baby nightcrawlers.

Mamie Lake: Use Black Ant or Woolly Bugger flies or Thomas Buoyant lures.

Mary Lake: Troll flashers with nightcrawlers just off the shelves.

Twin Lakes: Use Power Bait.

Mammoth Creek: Use spinners, lures or San Juan flies.

OWENS RIVER, CALIF: Susie Greilich said:

Upstream: Use Woolly Bugger flies.

Downstream: Gold Super Duper lures are still working.

PYRAMID LAKE, NEV: Is closed to cutthroat trout fishing until Oct. 1.

RED LAKE CALIF: Dave Kirby reported that the fishing was doing well over the weekend, despite the "Death Ride."

SACRAMENTO RIVER, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero of Outdoor Adventures Sport Fishing, Redding, Calif. (800-670-4448) sent in this report:

Redding to Anderson: Water flow is 15,000 CFS.

Fishing for rainbow trout is great with 15-30 fish days. Catching and releasing wild, trophy rainbows, up to 6 pounds. Using Pheasant Tails, Prince Nymphs, Caddis patterns and egg patterns.

Red Bluff: The King Salmon season will open on July 16. Fish count over the Red Bluff Diversion Dam is 1,635 King Salmon as compared to 1,415 last year, same date.

SHASTA LAKE, CALIF: Kirk Portocarrero reported fishing is good with limits of salmon.

Kirk and his clients are catching King salmon, 1 to 5 lbs, up to 23 inches, trolling, using shad pattern lures.

LAKE TAHOE - North Shore:

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "On Friday, I had a full boatload including Bob "Slick" McCulloch of Carson City and his five-year old Grandson, Jack Hummel, of Reno.

Jack caught his first-ever Mackinaw, a 21.7 inch Mack. That was the second largest on the boat that day.

Slick did not catch a fish.

And, then when we docked, Slick tried to help moor the boat but forgot to tie the rope to the dock and we drifted back out.

We've been catching our Mackinaw trout early in the morning and I've been tagging and releasing the smaller ones.

The fishing has been very consistent, but nothing super big.

I troll 250-550 feet deep in the deep-water area in front of Carnelian Bay and King's Beach.

We are using silver, Herring Dodger flasher blades with live minnows or large Apex lures."

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 150-300 feet deep in the Dollar Point, Cal Neva Point and Tahoe City areas.

LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling in the Camp Richardson and Baldwin Beach areas with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 160-280 feet deep.

LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:

Gene St. Denis said that Cave Rock Shelf has been producing mostly smaller Macks.

Jiggers are doing the best.

The Macks are running 1-3 pounds with nothing over 5 pounds.

TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550): Fishing has really slowed down with the hot weather.

The water temperature is currently 74-76 degrees.

They are only catching an occasional fish here and there.

The lake has dropped two feet since July 1.

About all we have are water skiers and jet skis.

TWIN LAKES, CALIF. AREA:

Lower Twin: The Twin Lakes Resort (760-932-7751):

14-year old Derrick Rodenbucher from Landcaster, Calif. won the $200 Grand Prize in the fishing derby with a 5-pound rainbow trout on a rainbow-colored Thomas Buoyant lure.

Fishing is really good, Limits are common.

Power Bait, lures, nightcrawlers and Zeke's are all working well.

The largest rainbows of the week were:

A 4-pound, 14-ounce on Power Bait.

A 4-pound, 2-ounce on Salmon eggs.

A 3-pound, 10-ounce on a Spin-A-Lure.

A 3-pound, 9-ounce on a nightcrawler.

Upper Twin: Mono Village (760-932-7071) reported:

Lots of stringers averaging 1.5 pounds taken on Power Bait or worms from shore and red/gold lures while trolling.

Robinson Creek: Is as good as ever.

Lures, nightcrawlers or Salmon eggs are the best bet.

VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Jim Reid reported that these lakes are doing great with just about anything. Using Woolly Bugger or Matuka flies, Power Bait, Panther/Martin lures or Thomas Buoyant lures.

WALKER RIVERS:

East Walker (Calif.): Jim Reid said that Nymphs are working the best. Water flow is 200 CFS.

West Walker (Calif.): Jim Reid said not much happening. Using bait or small spinners.

East Walker (Nev.): No report.

West Walker (Nev.): No report.

Little Walker (Calif.): Good for small rainbows and brookies on worms or Salmon eggs in the Willow Flat area.

WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472 said, "The weather is beautiful and the fishing is not bad, not bad, at all.

They are catching fish but it has slowed down a little, probably due to the heat.

The road construction has started up again and they are busy resurfacing the main highway."

YOSEMITE NATIONAL PARK AREA, CALIF: Susie Greilich said:

Saddlebag Lake: Use streamers.

Lee Vining Creek: Use Salmon eggs or Panther/Martin lures.
