The Sierra Sun Devils won the Joe DiMaggio State Baseball Tournament on Sunday with a 9-1 win over the Spanish Springs Bandits.
Spanish Springs defeated the Carson Cardinals in an elimination game to advance to the championship round to face the Sun Devils. Against Spanish Springs, Carson High graduate Willie Bowman drove in the first run with an RBI sacrifice fly and fellow Carson gradaute Aaron Henry scored two runs. Wooster's Jake Rasner was the winning pitcher.
The Sun Devils advanced to the Joe DiMaggio World Series and will begin play in the tournament at 4 p.m. Friday near Napa, Calif.
