This is a final reminder that Saturday, June 12, is Free Fishing Day in both Nevada and California.

You will be able to fish, without a fishing license, anywhere you desire in either state or even in both states on that day.

Fishing will be free but you will need to abide by all of the regular rules and regulations that govern whatever water(s) you will be fishing. To further insure that your free fishing day will be a memorable experience, the California Department of Fish and Game, various California Counties and the Nevada Division of Wildlife have planted thousands of rainbow trout into many of their waters.

Some of the more popular destinations in this general area will be:

The Carson River, east of Carson City.

The East Carson River in Douglas County.

The Truckee River in Washoe County.

Lahontan Reservoir in Churchill and Lyon Counties.

Topaz Lake and Topaz Canal in Douglas County.

Davis Creek Pond at Davis Creek Park in Washoe Valley.

Paradise Pond in Northern Reno/Sparks.

Wilson Common Pond in Washoe Valley.

The East and West Carson Rivers near Woodfords and Markleeville, Calif.

Indian Creek Reservoir between Woodfords and Markleeville.

Red, Caples and Silver Lakes, all near Kit Carson Pass, Calif.

Pick one or more of those choices and enjoy a day of free fishing on Saturday.
