Michael Paul "Papa" Economakos, 73, a Carson Valley resident for the past 12 years, died June 9, 2004, at Washoe Medical Center.
He was born Nov. 10, 1930, in Cambridge, Mass., to Paul and Irene Theodore Economakos. He came from a large Greek family.
He attended Inglewood High School and El Camino Junior College in California.
Before moving to the Carson Valley, he lived in Southern California for more than 50 years.
Mr. Economakos retired as vice president of Young's Market Co. He was a member of the Thoroughbred Horseman's Club and of the Roman Catholic and Greek Orthodox churches.
He belonged to the U.S. Army Reserves.
Among his survivors are his wife of 52 years, Jean, of Gardnerville; daughter, Pamela; son, Mick; grandchildren Jeffrey, Ryan, Mandy and Hannah; 96-year-old father, Paul; sister, Paula; and brother, Peter.
A private service will be held.
Cremation will be at FitzHenry's Crematory.
FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
