A celebration of life for Norris Leonard Leegard, 77, a longtime Fallon resident, will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at The Gardens Chapel.

Mr. Leegard died May 1, 2004, at Evergreen Carson City Care Center. He was born Oct. 24, 1926, in Emmons, Iowa, to Peter and Karine Helland Leegard.

Mr. Norris was a heavy-equipment operator for more than 50 years. One of his greatest accomplishments was getting the contract to dig out the Tahoe Keys Marina. He was a member of the Elks Lodge and loved boating and camping with his family.

He served in the U.S. Army for two years during World War II.

He was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters and numerous nieces and nephews.

Among his survivors are his wife, Phyllis, son and daughter-in-law Bob and Amy and daughter Carolyn Kendrick, all of Fallon; son and daughter-in-law David and Darnell of Gardnerville; daughter and son-in-law Cheryl and Jim Tyler of Bullhead City, Ariz.; sister, Myrtle Hauge of Mason City, Iowa; grandchildren Carrie, Cristy, Darrin, Andrea, Shane and Tanner; great-grandchildren Michael, Benjamin, Mitchell, Anthony, Karrie, Kati, Tye, Mason, Megan and Kennedy; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Hospital Auxiliary, 801 E. Williams Ave., Fallon, NV 89406.

The Gardens Funeral Home in Fallon is in charge of arrangements.
