A funeral for Velma Janis Jim, 86, of Carson City, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Stewart Indian Cemetery. A dinner will follow at the Stewart community building.

Mrs. Jim died May 2, 2004, in Carson City. She was born Nov. 28, 1918, in Coleville, Calif., to Willie and Lilly Frank James. She was raised in Coleville and moved to Dresslerville in 1934.

Mrs. Jim was a homemaker. She was a Washoe tribal member and enjoyed playing handgames. She was affiliated with the American Indian religion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Greeley Jim; and daughters Sandra Jim and Ruthann Holbrook.

Among her survivors are her sons Rocky of the Stewart Indian Community and Vernon of the Carson Indian Colony; son Glenn and daughter, Mary Harrison, both of the Dresslerville Indian Colony; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
