BRIDGEPORT RESERVOIR, CALIF: Rick Giser of Ken's Sporting Goods Store (760) 932-7707 said, "Fishing has been good whenever the fishermen can get out, due to very windy conditions.

Trollers are catching rainbows that average 3-4 pounds on flashers and flies or flashers and worms.

Shore fishing has been good off Rainbow Point with Power Bait or nightcrawlers."

CAPLES LAKE, CALIF:

Doug Busey of Douglas County reported that the ice came off last week and that the big news is the 26-pound (38 inch) Mackinaw trout caught last Sunday. It was caught by Norm Perini of Pioneer, Calif., who was trolling a 6-inch Rebel lure at a depth of about 30-40 feet. That Mackinaw is a new lake record.

The boat launch is now open for average sized boats, larger boats are not advised at this time.

Dave Kirby said the shore fishermen have been successful with worms or Power Bait.


CARSON RIVER AREA, CALIF: Dave Kirby of the Woodfords Station (530-694-2930) said both forks of the Carson River will be planted on May 14.

Todd Sodaro at the Carson River Resort at 877-694-2229 reported that the East Carson River water is high and green-looking with not very many fishermen.

East Carson: High and muddy.

West Carson: High and muddy.

Markleeville Creek: Planted with 250 pounds of rainbows.

Silver Creek: Planted with 250 pounds of rainbows.

LAHONTAN RESERVOIR, NEV: Missy Swain at Burke's Market at Silver Springs (775-577-2750) said, "The reservoir is still at around 220,000 acres feet of water and rising.

There was so much wind yesterday (Monday), that they closed school and the highway.

I really felt sorry for all of the campers out in that awful wind.

Beach No. 4 is best for Walleye and Wipers.

Beach No. 10 is best for catfish but be careful of the sand and don't get stuck.

Just a reminder to all fishermen that if you catch something nice, bring it in so we can weigh it and take a picture."

Redding to Anderson: Fishing for rainbows is good, with 15-25 fish most days. Catching and releasing rainbows up to 6 pounds. Using No. 16 Pheasant Tail, No. 16 Prince Nymphs, Caddis pattern and egg pattern flies.

Mickey Daniels of Mickey's Big Mack Charters (800-877-1462) said: "I didn't go out fishing because I was at Convict Lake, over the weekend, helping Don Quilici celebrate his birthday.

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he is trolling with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 180-220 feet deep.

Jigging continues to be productive at Dollar Point and Cal Neva Point with a White Star jig.


LAKE TAHOE - South Shore:

Gene St. Denis of Blue Ribbon Charters and Tahoe Trophy Trout at South Lake Tahoe, Calif. (530-544-6552) said he has been trolling with a short leader, Herring Dodger flasher blades and live minnows at 180-220 feet deep.


LAKE TAHOE - East Shore:

Gene St. Denis said, "Cave Rock Shelf has been steady with a short leader, Dodgers and live minnows at 180-280 feet deep. Catching 5-15 Macks per trip, with the largest being 9 pounds.

Toplining has slowed way down.


TOPAZ LAKE: Chuck Fields of the Topaz Lake Marina (775-266-3550) reported that fishing is about the same as before. They are catching fish but nothing really big. Both the shore fishermen and the boaters are getting limits.


TRUCKEE RIVER:

Little Truckee River, Calif: No report.

Truckee River, Calif: No report.

Truckee River, Nev: Don Hamby of The Gilly Sporting Goods Store in Sparks (358-6113) reported that the river is high, fast and cold, and you need to fish along the edges.

The best areas to fish are at Lockwood, Mustang and Derby Dam. Use stream flies, small spinners or Rapala lures.

Truckee Canal, Nev: No report.


TWIN LAKES, CALIF. AREA:

Lower Twin: The Twin Lakes Resort ((760--932-7751 sent in this report: Fishing was a little slow thanks to a full moon and the wind but people were catching fish.

Upper Twin: Mono Village (760-932-7071) reported Jim Wilkins of Carson City caught a 3-pound brown while trolling in the cove, a 5-pound rainbow on a nightcrawler and a 4-pound rainbow on a Mepps spinner.

Robinson Creek: Was doing very well for a lot of stringers (rainbows up to 2 1/4 pounds) on nightcrawlers, salmon eggs or small lures.


VIRGINIA LAKES, CALIF. AREA: Resort and campground are still closed.

Upper Virginia Lake: Still ice covered with thin ice. A little water showing around the edges.

Lower Virginia Lake: Is about 3/4 open water. Three unsuccessful shore fishermen on Sunday. Two skiers on the mountain above the lake.

WALKER RIVERS:

East Walker (Calif.): Rick Giser reported the fishing has been good for fly fishermen using small, Zebra or WD-40 Midge flies.

West Walker (Calif.): No report.

East Walker (Nev.): No report.

West Walker (Nev.): High, fast and very muddy.

Little Walker (Calif.): High but not too muddy.


WASHOE LAKE, NEV: No report.


WEBER RESERVOIR, NEV: No report.


WILDHORSE RESERVOIR NEV: Dennis Dunn at the Wild Horse Resort (775) 758-6472 said the fishing has been good.

The Perch are biting, the trout are hitting and the Channel Cats are beginning to bite.

Two locals (Dean and Jerry Carpenter) caught 40 perch in the 11-inch class and a couple of trout with nightcrawlers from shore.

Another couple and their young daughter caught 11 trout from shore with the largest being a 4 pound Cuttbow.

A 16-pound Channel Catfish was taken from the Hendrick's Creek area on Monday morning.


WILSON COMMON POND IN WASHOE VALLEY: No report.
