Marguerite Ethel 'Posie' Edwards

A private burial will be held for Marguerite Ethel "Posie" Edwards, a Reno resident for 50 years, who died May 14, 2004, at St. Mary's Regional Medical Center in Reno. She was 80.

Mrs. Edwards was born March 12, 1924, in Fresno, Calif., to Elmer and Sarah Ethel Hagel Anderson, the descendant of Swedish pioneer ranchers in Lassen County. She graduated from Lassen County High School and attended the California Academy of Arts and Crafts in Berkeley. Mrs. Edwards graduated from Art Center School in Los Angeles in 1947.

She married Revis Edwards on Nov. 23, 1947, in Reno. She moved to Reno from Susanville in 1954.

A painter, she created watercolor landscapes of Northern Nevada and California which she gave to family and friends.

She was art director with Gary Reid Wright Co. in Reno for 25 years.

Mrs. Edwards is survived by her husband of 56 years of Reno; a daughter, Sally Edwards of Carson City; a sister Iris K. Davie of Susanville; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She will be buried in the family plot in the Susanville Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospital Foundation, 520 Sixth St., Reno, NV, 89503. Walton's Funeral Home in Reno is in charge of arrangements.
