The Lassen College women's soccer team finished its regular season with a 6-0 win over Butte on Friday.

Butte came into the game ranked No. 8 in California with a 13-3-1 record. The two teams' last meeting in Susanville, Calif., two weeks ago was a brutal affair, with four Butte players sent to the hospital with injuries. Lassen won 3-1.

Friday's game ended without physical injuries. Lassen pounded Butte's keeper, playing ball after ball into the box. At halftime the score was 2-0, with Lassen outshooting Butte 13-1. In the second half, Lassen continued its attack, outshooting Butte 17-0.

Both teams will advance to the playoffs. Lassen finished the regulare season at 18-1-1, 12-0 in conference and ranked No. 3 in the nation. The Lady Cougars' dominance in the Golden Valley Conference continues: since the inception of the program Lassen has never lost a conference match, and are 31-0 in GVC play.

Among the local players on the team are Douglas High graduates Jenny Jaggard, Brit Christen and Molly Hernandez. The Lady Cougars will host their first playoff game in Susanville on November 16 at a time to be determined.
