A celebration of life for Darlene K. Landis, 59, a four-year Gardnerville resident, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at her home, 1273 Kingston Way, Gardnerville.

Ms. Landis died Nov. 9, 2004, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. She was born June 19, 1945, in California to Elvin and Edith Wood Landis.

She graduated from high school in Lemoore, Calif., then from Fresno State and received her master's degree from Pepperdine University. She attended Cleveland Chiropractic College in Los Angeles and received her doctorate of chiropractic degree.

She owned Landis Chiropractic Center in Minden.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Costa Mesa where she was a school teacher for 16 years.

Ms. Landis was a member of SIDDHA Yoga, TNI, Sertoma of Gardnerville and Toastmasters of Douglas County. She enjoyed camping, hiking and gardening.

She was preceded in death by her father.

Among her survivors are her companion, Patti Bailey, of Gardnerville; mother; sister and brother-in-law Sharon and Steve Thatcher of Tracy, Calif.; and nieces Donna Brocks of Clovis, Calif., and Cathy Knox of Tracy, Calif.

Burial will be at a later date in Lemoore Cemetery. A memorial has been established with Oklahaven, 4500 N. Meridian, Oklahoma City, OK 73112.

Capitol City Cremation and Burial Society is in charge of arrangements.
