Raw fish and pigskin is a winning combination for Bob Liou, owner of Ming's Chinese Restaurant and Sushi Bar.
While gazing up at the Dallas Cowboys playing the Philadelphia Eagles, customers can now snack on shrimp and seaweed.
Ming's Restaurant and Sushi Bar, 2330 S. Carson St., recently began serving seven days a week.
Owner Bob Liou said football was the catalyst: His customers repeatedly asked him to open for Monday Night Football.
Liou has lived in Carson City since 1997. He's worked in the restaurant business for 24 years in Sacramento and South Lake Tahoe. The old Ming's was in front of Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse. Liou decided to retire after Sav-On bought out his building.
Ming's on South Carson is his break from retirement. The Lious have invested about $1 million into the Chinese restaurant. He and his wife, Judy, learned how to prepare sushi in San Francisco. Now they have two chefs making 100 varieties of sushi.
"I like the cooking and if people are happy than I am happy too."
Ming's opened on March 2. He has 10 employees at the 4,500-square-foot restaurant. His wife works as the kitchen manager. Recently a new chef from San Francisco joined the crew.
