The Bethany Circle of Bethlehem Lutheran Church will present its 40th annual Advent Tea at 2 p.m. Sunday in Luther Hall.

"This is the Lutheran Women's Missionary League that hosts this," said Joann Larsen, a member of the group.

"We will have tea and cookies, all homemade and decorated for the tea. We also have the best organist on the West Coast to perform for us, and a couple of guest artists."

Lynch's wife, Shawna, a flautist, will perform. Michelle and Luke Shober, mother and son, will play handbells.

"We also put up trees, decorate, set the tables with nice glass dishes and sterling silver tea pots. This is an act of love for us.

"It is just like a high tea with all the lovely cookies these ladies make."

Larsen said it is open to all women. Many bring their young daughters adorned in their best dresses.

"Heaven's no, there is no restriction on age," Larsen added. "And there's no cost.

"This is a time to celebrate the Advent season and share the good news of Christ's coming with the women of the community.

"There's only about 12 of us now in the group, but we love to do this."

The church is at 1837 Mountain St., and the hall is directly behind it.
