Carson City police are investigating a fight Saturday night in which a man suffered a stab wound to his side.

Detective Don White said Aric Bean, 26, was stuck in the side of his chest under his left arm following an argument with apartment manager Richard Austere, 49, at the Imperial Apartments in northeast Carson City.

White said Austere heard loud voices coming from Bean's apartment. When he confronted him, the two allegedly began to argue.

Neither man admitted to striking the first blow, but at some point, Bean was stabbed by Austere, White said.

He said the injury was minor, although Bean did spend a few nights in the hospital.

White said one witness claimed Bean struck Austere, who in turn stabbed Bean. Bean said he was standing just a few feet away from Austere when he allegedly reached out and stabbed him.

After the stabbing, Bean ran to a 7-Eleven nearby and handed the clerk a bloody dollar bill for change for the pay phone to call police.

The knife was never recovered.

White said the case will be forwarded to the district attorney's office for possible charges.
