A service for Lorraine Fry Cass, 83, a Carson City resident for the past 34 years, will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's Chapel of Faith.

Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at FitzHenry's.

Mrs. Cass died Sept. 1, 2004, at home. She was born Jan. 3, 1921, in Alhambra, Calif., to Ernest and Florine Faye Fry.

She married Gerald Cass Oct. 16,1955, in Yuma, Ariz.

Before moving to Carson City, she lived in the Auburn-Applegate, Calif. area.

Mrs. Cass was a deputy sheriff for the Placer County Sheriff's Office for eight years and was part of the security force for the 1960 Winter Olympics in Squaw Valley, Calif.

She enjoyed making rag dolls. She was voted one of the top blues singers in Los Angeles in 1952, and sang at telethons benefiting City of Hope.

She was preceded in death by her brothers Scott and Ken Fry.

Among her survivors are her husband of Carson City; son, Russell Weber of Ventura, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Teri Weber of Ventura; nephew, Rory Cass of Carson City; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery Tuesday.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
