Brinson places eighth for Carson

Annie Brinson placed eighth and Chad Shroy took 13th to lead the Carson High girls and boys cross country teams on Friday at the Reed Invitational.


Brinson finished the 3.1-mile course that included a water hazard in 22 minutes, 21 seconds. Official results for the varsity girls race was unavailable as of late Saturday night.


Other runners for Carson included Christy Works, who finished in 23:35, Patti Capistrant, who finished in 23:44, Kristin Neddenriep who finished in 24:44, Gloria Sosa finished in 24:46, Amanda Benson finished in 25:30 and Christa Casci finished in 25:40.


Covering the same course, Shroy finished in 18:56. Other finishers for Carson were Ryan Turner, who took 22nd in 19:54, Doug Holderman, who placed 38th in 21:24, Caleb Carter, who was 44th in 21:38, Rusty Turner, who was 45th in 21:47, Scott Wandel, who was 69th in 23:56 and Brad Williams was 71st in 24:14.


Carson's boys were sixth as a team with 181 points, finishing behind Reno High (33), Lowry (105), South Tahoe (116), Galena (118) and Manogue (158). Other teams that competed included Reed, Wooster, Hug, Damonte Ranche, Spanish Springs and Douglas.


In the junior varsity boys race for Carson, Tyler Bourns covered the 2.4-mile course with a water hazard in 16:00 to take 19th. Tyler Davies was 24th in 16:33, Greg Saunders was 33rd in 17:08, Stephen Maples was 34th in 17:09, Ahron Osheroff was 36th in 17:14, Chris Kuhn was 40th in 17:30 and Mike Gallager was 71st in 22:32.


Carson's boys finished fourth with 108 points behind Reno (41), Lowry (55) and Galena (96).


Covering the same course in the JV girls race for Carson, Hannah Works was eighth in 18:24, Meagan Myer was ninth in 18:27, Sumantha Pitts was 13th in 18:45 and Andrea Kierstead was 23rd in 19:39.
