Doris Marshall Deuel, 95, died Aug. 31, 2004, at the South Lyon Medical Center in Yerington. She was born Feb. 15, 1909, in Seattle to William and Addie Marshall Fleming.

She married William Deuel on Sept. 30, 1934. He preceded her in death in 1973.

She lived in Anaheim, Calif., for many years.

Mrs. Deuel retired from Sears in 1973. She was an accomplished china painter and teacher and did oil painting and water coloring. Her art pieces were displayed in china-painted shows and publications. She was very active in Southern and Northern California china-painting clubs and one in Roswell, N.M.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Mildred and Bernice and son, William.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law, Sandy and Jim Singleton of Wellington; grandson and wife, Don and Ellen White of Ventura, Calif.; granddaughters Mindy Cantrell of Sacramento and Dena and husband David Mackay of Whittier, Calif.; and great-grandchildren Grant, Janell and Page White of Ventura, Cody Cantrell of Sacramento and Reid Mackay of Whittier, Calif.

A graveside service was held Sept. 9 at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Cypress, Calif.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
