Carson bodybuilder takes first place

Carson City bodybuilder Cindy McEwan won the Women's Masters division in the Team USA Natural Olympia held recently in Las Vegas.

McEwan advanced to represent Team USA at the Natural Universe event to be held Nov. 13 in Las Vegas. The Natural Universe is an international event involving teams from 37 countries.

McEwan has been involved in natural bodybuilding, in which no drugs are involved, since 1996 and has come away with numerous top three finishes. She competed earlier this year in Reno and Sacramento in preparation for Team USA.

Since opening Silver State Fitness in 1997, McEwan has trained several women to competition level. McEwan, a 40-year-old mother of two, said she simply presents herself as one end of the spectrum of a healthy fitness lifestyle.
