As County Commissioner, I will bring 30 years of public service to the tasks before the commission as well as a high level of personal integrity, accountability and responsiveness to the public will.

I will work to keep a balance of preserving open space with controlled, intelligent growth patterns, placed in the most appropriate areas, with greater overall adherence to the Douglas County Master Plan.

We need to work on improving traffic patterns, expanding bypass roads to reduce traffic congestion in downtown Minden and Gardnerville, and control speeding in the residential areas. More rural roads need to be paved.

I will also work on plans to create and maintain recreational areas in balance with preservation of natural habitat for wildlife and prevention of erosion, flooding and fire hazards.

We need to develop more local jobs, which would include job-training, apprenticing and placement of youth and current under-employed residents.

I have worked with all levels of government, bringing them together to find solutions to local problems. As a certified mediator, I have helped opposing groups find common solutions that meet each side's real needs.

My campaign motto is "A Higher Standard."
