A funeral service for 42-year Carson City resident Edward Russell Shields, 74, will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 1837 Mountain St. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mr. Shields died Sept. 24, 2004, in Carson City. He was born Sept. 10, 1930, in Tonopah to Robert E. and Gertrude Antoniazzi Shields.

He was retired from the Nevada Department of Transportation and was an active member of the Carson City Lions Club and the Bethlehem Lutheran Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Idelle; sister, Jane Christianson and brother, Robert.

Among his survivors are brother, Charles, of Reno; nephews John and Bill of Reno and Lowell of Sacramento and nieces Linda of Reno, Cheryl of Sacramento and Christy Whiteside of Reno.

Internment will be in Walton's Carson Gardens Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
