A memorial service for 39-year Carson City resident Helyne Herriman, 79, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Herriman died April 3, 2005, at home. She was born Oct. 11, 1925, in Moneland, Kan., to John and Albina Gassman.

Before coming to Carson City, she lived in Southern California.

Mrs. Herriman was an avid birder and enjoyed quilting, crafts and animals. She was a homemaker and a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Carson City, the National Watch and Clock Association and a quilting club in Carson City.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Herriman in 2001.

Among her survivors are her daughter and son-in-law Sheila A. and Phil Thompson of Truckee; daughter Tana M. Rasmussen of Boise, Idaho; and granddaughter, Rachel Rasmussen.

Donations in her memory may be made to St. Mary's Hospice, 3605 Grant Dr., Reno, NV 89509.
