Washoe Valley's Steve Hummell won three matches over a two-day period to win the Sierra Nevada PGA Match Play Championship at Thunder Canyon Golf Club.

Hummell, the top seed entering the event, topped second-seeded Tom Dawson 1-up in Thursday's championship match. Hummell reached the finals with a 4 and 2 win over Todd Michaelson. Dawson had advanced with a 2 and 1 win over Mike Paul.

Hummell received a first-round bye on Wednesday morning and then knocked off eighth-seeded Chase Stigall in his afternoon match.

Dawson, who also received a first-round bye, topped Nate Kelley 3 and 2 in his second-round match.
