Longtime Carson City Republican Party Chairman Joe DiLonardo has been cited by the Department of Motor Vehicles for trying to sell cars without a dealer's license.
He was ordered to appear in Carson Justice Court on May 3.
DiLonardo, owner of Great Western Motors, was cited Friday by DMV Compliance Enforcement officers after a Thursday sting in which he tried to sell three cars to an undercover officer at the business on Highway 50 East.
The citation is a misdemeanor violation of Nevada laws requiring automobile dealers to be licensed by DMV.
DMV officials said DiLonardo's license was revoked in December for violations relating to consignment vehicles and failure to pay court judgments.
