Hixon to Idaho State, Christian to Southern Idaho

Former Galena High athletic standout Joanna Hixon has committed to play women's basketball at Idaho State, NevadaPrep.com has reported.

Hixon is coming off a season in which she helped lead Southern Idaho to a National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association runner-up finish. In other news, 2004 Carson High graduate Ciarra Christian has committed to play for Southern Idaho.

Hixon, a 2003 Galena graduate, signed with Montana State out of high school and received considerable playing time with the Bobcats as a freshman in 2003-2004.

This past season, Hixon averaged 8.6 points a game, 11.7 in Scenic West Conference play. She earned all second-team Scenic West honors and also averaged 4.9 rebounds and finished the year with 45 blocks.

Christian was the Northern 4A Player of the Year in 2004. The first day of the spring signing period is Wednesday. Southern Idaho is coached by former Spring Creek head man Randy Rogers.
