Douglas softball sweeps South Tahoe

Kellei Kizer pitched a one-hit shutout to key a doubleheader sweep for the Douglas softball team against South Tahoe Saturday at Lady Tiger Field.


Kizer (6-1) struck out 10 and walked none in game two as the Tigers picked up a 10-0 win.


Val Smith went 5-for-5 on the day with three doubles to lead the Tigers at the plate. She led the team with four RBI in a 19-2 game one win in which Douglas drew 18 walks.


Lauren Hoppe had a double, four runs scored and an RBI in game one and Felicia Imelli drove in two runs. Nicole LaPorte went 2-for-2 with an RBI. Mitzi Olsen (4-1) picked up the win, striking out three and walking one.


In game two, Jessie Kizer went 2-for-4 with a double.


The Vikings only runs of the day came in the top of the third of the first game when Bernie Schneiber singled to center and Charlotte Lee followed with a triple. Danielle Lowell then hit a sacrifice fly to center, scoring Lee.


Douglas improved to 16-5 overall and 4-0 in league play.
