A funeral for Sylvia Berniece Alger, 84, a Mason Valley-Smith Valley resident for the past 20 years, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home in Yerington.

Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of the service.

A graveside service will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Ely City Cemetery in Ely.

Mrs. Alger died April 28, 2005, in Yerington. She was born Nov. 28, 1920, in Vernal, Utah, to David and Josephine Hall.

She married Frank Alger Dec. 10, 1936, in McGill.

She had lived in Yerington, Wadsworth, Wellington and Reno.

Mrs. Alger worked for Raley's in Reno and for Washoe Medical Center. She was a member of Queen of the Valley Rebekah Lodge No. 23, IOOF.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Donald; infant daughter, Lorretta; a sister; and two brothers.

Among her survivors are her daughter Amy Lorant of Wadsworth; sisters Clara Clark and Amy Dickinson, both of Henderson, Gladys Wohlforth of Ely and Edith Ramstad of McGill; brothers Lee Hall of Ogden, Utah and Scott Hall of McGill; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.

Freitas Rupracht Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
