A funeral for Louis DeMattei, 61, a Carson City resident for the past 28 years, will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

Visitation and the saying of the rosary will be at 6 p.m. Sunday at Walton's Funeral Home.

Mr. DeMattei died Aug. 10, 2005, at Carson-Tahoe Hospital. He was born Nov. 20, 1943, in Oakland, Calif., to Victor and Mary "Rena" DeMattei.

He graduated from El Cerrito High School in 1961. Before moving to Carson City, he lived in California.

Mr. DeMattei worked for Mill Valley Garbage, San Francisco Garbage and Oakland Scavengers. He came to Minden in 1977 to manage Douglas Disposal. At the time of his death, he was working at Carson High School as a custodian. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

He was a member of the California Army National Guard.

He was preceded in death by his father Feb. 24, 1979, in Reno.

Among his survivors are his wife, Joanne; children Matt of Reno and Michael and wife Susan of Glendale, Calif.; mother; sister and brother-in-law Dorothy and Marsh Augenstein; grandchild Brady and extended family members.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Heart Fund.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
