Jean Baptiste Uhart, 95, a Carson City resident for the past 76 years, died Aug. 24, 2005, at his home. He was born March 25, 1910, in Esterencuby, France, to Jean and Gracianne Mugagall Uhart.

He married Jeanette Uhalde on Nov. 26, 1948, in Live Oak, Calif. She preceded him in death in 2004.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in Reno.

Mr. Uhart was a rancher and a businessman. He was a member of St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and Little Flower Catholic Church in Reno. He was a member of Mendiko Eskaldun Cluba Reno Basque Club.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.

Among his survivors are his daughter and son-in-law, Mary and Patrick Douglass of Reno; son and daughter-in-law, John and Robyn of Carson City; and seven grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Crematory.

A celebration of life will be at a later date.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
