A funeral Mass for Margaret A. "Marne" Flander, 76, a Walnut Creek resident for the past nine years and former Carson City resident, will be at 3 p.m. Friday at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church.

A Rosary will be said at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Flander died Dec. 2, 2005, in Walnut Creek. She was born Jan. 13, 1929, in Washington, Iowa, to Bernard and Helen Walker.

She was raised on a farm in Washington, attended college at Ottumwa Heights in Ottumwa, Iowa, and received a degree in education.

She married Mervin J. Flander on June 14, 1950.

She lived in Carson City from 1965 to 1996.

Mrs. Flander was an active member of St. Teresa Catholic Community. She enjoyed the mountains and playing bingo.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995; brother James Walker and grandson Joshua Anderson.

Among her survivors are her sons J. Richard of Antioch, Calif., and David M. of Ruckersville, Va.; daughters Sister Debra Flander of Los Angeles and Pamela J. Harris of San Francisco; sister, Mary Bradfield of Rialto, Calif.; brother Urban Walker of Highland, Calif.; five grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

Burial will be at Lone Mountain Cemetery.

Walton's Chapel of the Valley is in charge of arrangements.
