A funeral for Robert Ray Turnier, 74, a Gardnerville resident for the past four years, will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Friday at St. Gall.

Mr. Turnier died Dec. 4, 2005, in Reno.

He was born Aug. 21, 1931, in Bronx, N.Y., to Robert J. and Helen Doherty Turnier.

He married Loretta Turnier on Nov. 12, 1960, in Clark, N.J. She preceded him in death Jan. 22, 1992, in Norwalk, Calif.

He worked in manufacturing. He was a member of St. Gall Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He was a teamster.

Mr. Turnier served in the New Jersey and California National Guard for 20 years.

Among his survivors are daughters and sons-in-law Sylvia and Paul McGurk of Alice, Texas, and Theresa and Jim DeGraffenreid of Gardnerville; son and daughter-in-law Arthur and Dawn Turnier and daughter and son-in-law Maureen and Saul Turnier, all of Crestline, Calif.; son Robert of Big Bear Lake, Calif.; sister, Evelyn Kenney of Elizabeth, N.J.; 14 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and 29 nieces and nephews in New Jersey.

Burial will be at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier, Calif.

FitzHenry's Carson Valley Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
