Lewellys B. Van Pelt

Lewellys B. Van Pelt, 76, a Dayton resident, died Feb. 19, 2005, at home.

He was born April 7, 1928, in Elkins, W. Va., to Sterling and Gertie Hogan Van Pelt.

He married Beverly Shaffer.

Mr. Van Pelt was a mill worker. He was a past member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by six brothers and two sisters.

Among his survivors are his wife and daughter and son-in-law Lori and Jeff Lawrence, all of Dayton; sons Jerry of Sharon, Pa., and Howard of Naples, Fla.; sister, Clara Judd of Maryland; 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

A memorial service was held at FitzHenry's.

Cremation was at FitzHenry's and inurnment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Hermitage, Pa.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Hospice.
