Carson City

Forum meets today to discuss education

Carson City's Parents for Quality Education presents a Forum for Quality Education from noon-5 p.m. today at the Legislative Building, 401 S. Carson St., Room 3100. Voice your concerns; learn about professional development of teachers; listen and talk with a host of professional speakers to answer your questions about your children and where your tax dollars are spent.

Learn about No child left behind.

Invited professionals include: Congressman Jim Gibbons' representative Tina M. Teen Night coming up at Carson Library

Carson City Library will present Teen Night for middle and high school students from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Registration is required for this special presentation. Teens are encouraged to dress as a favorite character from a book or movie. Party plans include games, karaoke, and a costume contest. Refreshments will be provided; bring a friend! Dayton

Friends of library seeking new members

Friends of the Dayton Valley Library is having its annual membership drive. Dues remain the same; $5 single, $10 per couple, $15 family and $25 business. They also accept extra donations. Membership applications include a list of ways you can help.

It is not necessary to mark any tasks, but even an hour here or there can help make a big difference in making the Dayton Library better. Meetings are at the library on the third Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Zephyr Cove

Comedy touches on Nevada's romance with disrespectability

McAvoy Layne, the Ghost of Mark Twain, and Baron von Remmel, Twain's musical sidekick, will present a musical comedy panorama about gambling in the Silver State, "Nevada's Story" from 6-8 p.m. today at the Zephyr Cove Melody Tent. Cost is $49, call 800-23TAHOE.

The saga begins with Nevada's first millionaire and skips comically, musically and panoramically (80 PowerPoint slides) across the remarkable characters and occasions that have made Nevada, "America's Playground."

Bugsy, Harrah, Hughes, Frank & Marilyn, Tahoe & the Cal-Neva Lodge, they're all included in this entertaining musical production recounting Nevada's romance with disrespectability.
