A funeral for Bob H. Luce, 78, a Fallon resident for the past 63 years, will be at 11:30 a.m. today at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, 505 Rio Vista Drive, Fallon, with the Rev. Woody Swenson officiating.

Mr. Luce died June 1, 2005, at Banner Churchill Community Hospital in Fallon.

He was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Grayford, Texas, to William Horace and Florence Reed Luce.

Mr. Luce owned and operated a painting and drywall contracting business in Fallon for 40 years. He was an avid country music performer, outdoorsman and archery enthusiast. He was past president of the Fallon Shrine Club and a member of Kerak Shrine Temple and Churchill Lodge 26, F&AM.

He was a veteran of World War II and the welterweight champion of the 12th Naval District.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Kay; brother Pat; and sister, Dot Wade.

Among his survivors are his wife of 23 years, Emma Rea of Fallon; children Michael E. Luce of Las Vegas, Buzz Fitzpatrick of Carson City and Timothy R. Luce of Santa Clarita, Calif.; brother Bill of Chatsworth, Calif.; sister Mary Capitola of Woodslands, Texas; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Burial will be at the Fallon Cemetery.

Smith Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
