Services will be held at a later date for Vernon Russell Markussen, 61, who died Thursday, June 2, 2005, in Reno.
He was born March 8, 1944, in Hoopa, Calif., to Corneilus Farrell and Gertrude Markussen. He graduated from Hoopa High School and was a boilermaker, blacksmith, iron worker and ship builder, and he belonged to the boilermaker union.
He married Shirley D. Markussen in Flagstaff, Ariz. A resident of Vancouver, Wash., for 14 years, he previously lived in Sacramento.
Mr. Markussen was preceded in death by his parents, a son Roy (Ricky) M. Markussen in 1997 and a sister, Dorothy Tennison.
Survivors include son Vernon R. Markussen of Carson City and daughter Katrina T. Markussen of Reno, sister Gloria Jean Brooks, four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Weitchpec, Calif. FitzHenry's Funeral Home of Carson City is in charge of arrangements.
