George B. Hamel Jr., 82, a Carson City resident for the past 10 years, died June 11, 2005, at home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1922, in Detroit to George Sr. and Pearl Hall Hamel.

Before moving to Carson City, he lived in San Jose, Calif.

Mr. Hamel was a tool-and-die maker and owner of Hamel Tool & Die Co. in Santa Clara, Calif., for 20 years. He enjoyed traveling in his RV and spending time with family and friends.

He served in the U.S. Army.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty in 1989, in San Jose.

Among his survivors are his sons Jim of Burt Ranch, Calif., Tom of Los Gatos, Calif., and Rick of Lodi, Calif.; daughters Sandra Hamel of Jillett, Wyo., and Barbara Hamel of Carson City; sister, Shirley Holt of Palm Springs, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

No local service will be held.

FitzHenry's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
