A service for Bette Jane Rubald, 82, a Gardnerville resident for the past two years, will be at 2 p.m. today at Walton's Chapel of the Valley.

Mrs. Rubald died June 13, 2005, in Gardnerville. She was born April 28, 1923, in Hope, N.D., to Howard and Anna Carr Stansbury.

She graduated from Finley High School in 1940.

She married Terrance T. Rubald Dec. 17, 1947.

Before moving to Gardnerville, she lived in Sun City, Ariz.

Mrs. Rubald was a homemaker. She was an administrative assistant for the National Park Service and the Department of Energy.

She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, a Lioness, "Flame Girl" of 1946 for the city of Minneapolis and a park service campground volunteer in Carson City. She enjoyed baking, knitting and crocheting and the outdoors.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years on March 24, 2004, in Carson City.

Among her survivors are her daughter, Catherine A. Rubald of Vernon, Ariz.; son Timothy M. Rubald and daughter-in-law Terry E. Rubald, both of Carson City; brother, Paul Stansbury of Evergreen, Ala.; and grandson, Larry Rubald of Reno.

Burial will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
