The 19th annual Carson Valley Chukar Club fund raiser was held last Saturday evening at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.

According to Ron Pierini of the Chukar Club, that function attracted a jammed-packed, full house (the largest crowd ever) and raised more than $60,000.

The top two auction items of the evening were a Beretta 12 gauge shotgun that was won with a bid of $1,250 and a 9-week-old German Shorthair pup with a bid of $900.

The top raffle winner was Mark Munoz of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, who won six times!

Those monies will be used for a number of worthwhile projects in Nevada, such as the construction of man-made water collection devices known as "guzzlers," which are used by small animals and birds, support of the Nevada Hunter Education Program, significant contributions to the Nevada anti-poaching program known as Operation Game Thief and the annual Kids' Fishing Derby in Douglas County.
