Henderson man fined for poaching a deer

According to a recent press release by the Nevada Department of Wildlife, Lenard Wells Helmbolt of Henderson was ordered to pay $3,000 in criminal and civil penalties in Eureka County District Court on Feb. 18 for unlawfully killing or possessing a deer.

Judge Steve Dobrescu imposed a $2,000 criminal fine and $1,000 civil penalty after Helmbolt pleaded guilty to the gross misdemeanor charge.

Helmbolt, 57, used a hunting tag that was issued to his wife to harvest a 2x2 buck mule deer on Oct. 22, 2004. In addition, Helmbolt paid $125 to have the meat from the deer processed.
