A gathering of family and friends for William M. Cameron, Jr., 81, a Gardnerville resident for the past 15 years, will be from noon-4 p.m. March 19 at his home, 1925 Sorrel Lane, Gardnerville.

Mr. Cameron died March 10, 2005, in Gardnerville. He was born Jan. 10, 1924, in San Pedro, Calif., to William M. and Estelle Balch Cameron.

Before moving to Gardnerville, he lived in Bremerton, Wash.

Mr. Cameron worked in the plumbing industry for 48 years. He was a member of the Sierra Sagebrush Flyers. He enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and hunting and fishing.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II and was in the Marine Raider Battalion.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Merle "Judy," and son, William M. III.

Among his survivors are his daughter, Sue Laird of Concord, Calif.; son, Steven J. of Carson City; brother, Jack of San Pedro, Calif., and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Cremation will be at Walton's Sierra Crematory.

Walton's Douglas County Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
