Costella competes in NCAA meet

Carson High graduate Lauren Costella tuned up for the next two days in the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships by taking 52nd place in the 500-yard freestyle on Thursday.


Costella, a 2003 CHS graduate who is a sophomore at Stanford, finished in four minutes, 53.99 seconds at West Lafayette, Ind. Costella is scheduled to compete in the 400 individual medley today and will compete in her best event, the 1,650-yard free on Saturday, the last day of the meet.


After Thursday, Stanford was in fourth place with 108 points behind Georgia (211), Auburn (137) and Arizona (120).
