Costella takes 30th in 400 I.M.

Carson High graduate Lauren Costella appears to be peaking at the right time heading into her best event at the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships.


Costella, a 2003 CHS graduate and a sophomore at Stanford, swam to a season best four minutes, 21.80 seconds in the 400-yard individual medley on Friday at West Lafayette, Ind. Costella placed 30th after coming into the event seeded 43rd.


Today in the final day of the meet Costella will compete in her best event, the 1,650 freestyle.


Going into the final day of the event, Georgia has a commanding lead with 422.5 points and is followed by Auburn (329), Arizona (290), Florida (236) and Stanford (216) in fifth.
