Costella earns All-American honors

Carson High graduate Lauren Costella capped off her time at the NCAA Women's Swimming Championships with an All-American performance.


Costella, a 2003 CHS graduate who is a sophomore at Stanford, placed sixth in the 1,650-yard freestyle on Saturday in West Lafayette, Ind. after coming into the event seeded 10th. Costella finished in 16 minutes, 5.94 seconds. The top eight finishers in each event are recognized as All-Americans.


In the team standings, Georgia won the national title with 609.5 points and was followed by Auburn (492), Arizona (440), Florida (355) and Stanford in fifth (313).
