Carson High graduate Lauren Costella will compete this week in the World Championship trials in swimming.

The meet will be held April 1-6 in Indianapolis and will be used to determine this year's teams for the United States at the World Championships and World University Games.

Costella, a 2003 CHS graduate, will compete this week in the 800-meter and 1,500-meter freestyles. She's seeded 37th in the 800 and 12th in the 1,500.

In 2003, Costella won a bronze medal in the 1,500 free at the World University Games. Costella is also a sophomore at Stanford. She's coming off an All-American performance at the NCAA Championships where she placed sixth in the 1,650-yard free.
