SILVER SPRINGS (Staff) - A Fernley man remained in custody Monday following his arrest on methamphetamine charges.

Michael James Young, 47, was booked into the Lyon County Jail on suspicion of felony possession of methamphetamine, unlawful use of a controlled substance, possession of a hypodermic needle and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to the Lyon County Sheriff's Department, members of the narcotic's division served a search warrant Friday on Young's Middleton Road home in Fernley based on information gathered during an investigation of a biker club, The Branded Few.

Young is not a member of the group but a close associate, according to Lt. Bob Sherlock. The warrant came at the end of a two-month investigation.

The search warrant allegedly recovered a small amount of methamphetamine, narcotic paraphernalia and items used for the packaging of methamphetamine for sale.

Bail was set at $7,264.

Fourth Ward School will sell parcel

Virginia City's Fourth Ward School will sell a 1,000-square-foot parcel at 321 S. C St. for about $3,600.

Barbara Mackey, executive director of the Fourth Ward museum, said the parcel has been owned by the school for many years, and it's not needed.

"It's adjacent to another parcel which the owner of that piece has his home on, so it made sense for him to buy it," she said.

The Storey County Commission, which owns the school building, unanimously approved the sale at its Monday meeting.
