What I actually do: I do historical research for buildings and corporations. I also submit nominations to the National Register of Historic Places. No genealogies please.

Where I grew up: Texas

My most memorable business experience: I recorded a building in St. Charles, Mo., that was fire-damaged, and they wanted to tear it down. I was hired to do the evaluation of it and the background, and what I provided was so interesting that the owner decided to save and restore it.

Family: My boyfriend, George, and I have a dog named Roger.

Best advice I have ever gotten: Do what you enjoy doing and everything else will come.

A book everyone should read: "Walden" by Henry David Thoreau.

My inspiration: The sky here in Nevada.
