A celebration of life for LeRoy D. Johnson, 50, a Grover Beach, Calif., and Carson City resident, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Lady Family Mortuary in Arroyo Grande, Calif., with Father Joseph Butters of St. Patrick's Catholic Church officiating.

Mr. Johnson died Nov. 10, 2005, at his home in Grover Beach. He was born July 6, 1955, in Tucson, Ariz., where he lived for more than 35 years until moving to Carson City in 1989.

He was of American Indian descent, the Chippewa Tribe, and he studied the lore and knowledge of the tribe and kept it alive within his family.

He was a jack of all trades and enjoyed driving, trains, animals and his grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda, and grandson Zackary Johnson.

Among his survivors are his son and daughter-in-law Thomas and Kathryn and stepson Michael Johnson, all of Grover Beach; brother Herschel Jr. of Phoenix, Ariz.; sisters Sharon Vogel of Grand Portage, Minn., and Penny Thole of Nipomo, Calif., and grandchildren Skylar, James and Lane.

Memorial contributions may be made to Bobbiejoe Johnson, 1200 Russ Court, Arroyo Grande, CA 93420 to assist with final expenses.

Lady Family Mortuary and Crematory of Arroyo Grande is in charge of arrangements.
