New Year's party at Upstage Center
Cornerstone Music will host a New Year's "blowout" Saturday night Dec. 31 at the Upstage Center next to the Nevada Appeal on Mallory Way. Tickets are $20 to the all-ages show, featuring the Changing Design band with special guests Zero Therapy, All Divide and Broken Salvation, celebrating the opening of the Asylum, Northern Nevada's indoor skate park.

Pair to show photos of cruise vacation
Western Nevada Community College professors Chris Ryan and Jayna Conkey taught on a cruise ship as it traversed Europe and the Atlantic last summer. Now they bring their colorful cultural experiences to life in "Northern Europe," a photographic exhibit showing Dec. 19-Jan. 26 at the College Gallery in the Bristlecone Building. A reception for the artists is set for Thursday Jan. 26, 4:30-6:30 p.m.
The images are a small selection of the sights and individuals the professors encountered during their journey.
