A memorial for Valantino "Big Val" Amon Bianchi, 74, a resident of Ely, will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church in Ely.

Mr. Bianchi died Oct. 11, 2005, in Genoa. He was born Dec. 16, 1930, in Ely to Abramo Valantino and Nettie Buckmaster Bianchi.

He was married to Betty Fortner. He graduated from White Pine High School in 1949. He worked for Kennecott Copper Corp. his entire career.

Mr. Bianchi served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening and spending time with his family and friends.

He was preceded in death by a son, Abramo "Bram" Bianchi.

Among his survivors are his wife of 49 years of Ely; daughter, Valeri Wood, of Genoa; son and daughter in-law Ben and Karen Bianchi of Carson City; grandchildren Benjamon, Deron and Savannah Wood, Gina and Carli Bianchi and his extended family and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Bartholomew Episcopal Church Memorial Garden in Ely, or Home Health of Nevada, c/o Marie Carrick, 770 Lyons Ave., Ely, NV 89301.

Capitol City Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
