Galena takes third, Kop solid at state

Meaghan Callahan shot an 84 to lead the Galena High to a third place finish at the NIAA 4A State Girls Golf Championship on Tuesday at Wildhorse in Las Vegas.


The tournament was shorted to one 18-hole round after the scheduled first round was rained out on Tuesday. Carson High sophomore Michelle Kop also had a solid day, finishing 34th with a 92.


Callahan took 18th. The final team standings were: Bishop Gorman 385, Cimarron-Memorial 410, Galena 454, Reno High 455, Green Valley 460, Coronado 469.


Also for Galena, Caitlin Mullins took 28th with an 89, Ashley Menante was 32nd with a 91, Allison Burns fired a 93, Jessica Jones shot a 97 and Colleen Mullins had a 106.
