The Carson High girls soccer team continued to tune up for the Northern 4A playoffs with a 9-2 win at Wooster on Saturday.

Carson, which has clinched first place in the Sierra League, improved to 15-0-1 and 12-0-1 in league play.

"It was a pretty uneventful game," Carson coach Randy Roser said. "We basically just worked on things heading into zone."

Carson led 6-0 at halftime. Goalie Alli Otto, who played in the goal in the second half, played in the field in the first half, and goalie Brittany DeRosa pitched a shutout in the first half.

The Senators scored four goals in a nine-minute span. Cassie Bowman scored on an assist from Sophia Rafael seven minutes into the game. Kasey Cano scored on an assist from Brandi Vega four minutes late.

Danielle Benamati scored three minutes later on an assist from Cano. Two minutes later, Vega crossed the ball and a Wooster player ended up heading it into the net.

Otto scored on a header off of an assist from Rebecca Kane and then Vega scored on assist from Otto to make it 6-0.

Carson outscored Wooster 3-2 in the second half. "Wooster did have two very nice finishes," Roser said.

Cano assisted on two more goals by Sammy Valerius and Carli Smith and Justine Von Rumpf scored on an assist from Amanda Osborne.

The Senators end the regular season at home against Reno High, which is coming off a win against Douglas, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

"We have to play well against Reno on Tuesday," Roser said. "Nobody is going to want us to head into zone undefeated."

Carson will open the Nortern 4A playoffs at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2 against Elko at Galena.
